Event Name: Lunesdale Agricultural Show
Description:

The Lunesdale Agricultural Show is a traditional, local country show that is held in Underley Park, Kirkby Lonsdale on the second Tuesday in August each year.

There are classes for cattle, sheep, horses, poultry, sticks and crooks, home industries including flowers and vegetables as well as a dog show.  Exhibitors come from the local area as well as further afield, particularly in the sheep section where 17 different breeds of sheep are shown.  The craft marquee contains a selection of individually made items and the food hall hosts many of our local food producers.

Other exhibits around the show field include a display of vintage tractors and farm machinery, classic cars and many trade stands including children’s entertainment.

A feature of the afternoon entertainment is the keenly contested Cumberland and Westmorland Wrestling competition, an event unlikely to be seen outside Cumbria.  This is followed by a display from the Vale of Lune Hunt and the grand parade where all the prize winners can be seen. The day ends with the British showjumping classes.

Catering and a licensed bar are on site.

The showfield overlooks the Lune Valley with the famous Ruskin’s View a two minute walk away and the town of Kirkby Lonsdale only a five minute walk (depending on how long you stop to admire the view).
